
A 16-year-old Detroit girl, identified as Princess Diana Jennings-Carter, has been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly shooting a 13-year-old boy, according to reports by local media. CBS News Detroit reported that the shooting occurred on Wednesday night near a church on West Seven Mile Road, where the young boy sustained gunshot wounds to his thigh and buttocks.
Law enforcement officials, responding to the incident, apprehended Jennings-Carter the following day and Wayne County prosecutors have now charged her with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, carrying a weapon with unlawful purpose, and three counts of felony firearm, she fleeing the scene after the shooting, leaving the victim in critical condition. ClickOnDetroit notes that Jennings-Carter has been charged as an adult, and her bond has been set at $500,000 cash/surety.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office shared that the victim, who was shot at a bus stop, managed to survive after being quickly taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care, as FOX 2 Detroit reported. The seriousness of the charges reflects the gravity of the allegations against Jennings-Carter, an arraignment slated for yesterday commenced the legal process that awaits her.
