In an incident that could rattle the nerves of any public transit patron, approximately 60 passengers found themselves stranded on a Metro train in East Hollywood yesterday evening. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported that the train had stalled on the tracks, a mere 300 feet from the Santa Monica Red Line Station platform.
According to the official LAFD alert, the call came in at 07:53 PM, with firefighters and emergency personnel responding swiftly to the scene located at 1015 N Vermont Avenue. The situation, although potentially stressful for those involved, was handled without report of any injuries either prior to or during the extraction of passengers.
Emergency crews assisted passengers as they disembarked from the immobile train and made their way to street level, where presumably more reliable transportation awaited them. LAFD's alert detailed the successful effort, with multiple firefighting and emergency medical crews listed as responders, including Battalions 5 and 13, and EMS Battalion 5 among others.
