Allegheny County is buzzing with anticipation for its 2025 summer concert series, offering an eclectic mix of free events spanning genres from country to British Invasion, jazz to funk, at South Park Amphitheater and Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater. As reported by WPXI, the county executive Sara Innamorato expressed excitement about bringing world-class music to the local parks, stating, "This summer, we're bringing world-class music to our county parks for everyone to enjoy - for free."
Starting on May 30 with a performance by the Pittsburgh Opera at South Park, the series will unfold with the accompaniment of local culinary delights from food trucks and refreshments by Hop Farm Brewing Company and Black Dog Wine Company. WTAE detailed that attendees can relish these local offerings at all concert events. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra promises to be a classical highlight with performances scheduled for July 5 at South Park and July 6 at Hartwood, one of the concert series' mainstays, along with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre set to grace the Hartwood stage on August 24.
American Authors, known for their hit "Best Day of My Life," and Chuck Prophet with his Cumbia Shoes are among the acts coming to South Park. Tributes such as Randall Baumann's Ramble: A Celebration of Levon Helm's Midnight Rambles will be a distinct feature at Hartwood, with TribLIVE highlighting acts like Ashley Cooke, a rising country star, and Grammy-nominated KT Tunstall, along with a variety of other critically acclaimed performers.
Concertgoers can also expect heart-thumping performances from the likes of Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone and classics from The Family Stone to reinvigorate the funk charm while the 25th Annual Allegheny County Music Festival on June 29 featuring Randall Baumann’s Ramble is poised to raise money benefiting the county's Music Festival Fund which supports various life-enhancing experiences for youth, as per details shared by WPXI. All in all, this summer's emphasis is on community and cultural celebration with free performances designed to appeal to the diverse tastes of Allegheny County residents and visitors alike.
