The Anaheim Police Department is currently on the lookout for two men suspected of committing a home burglary during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. According to a report released by NBC Los Angeles, the incident occurred on the evening of March 22, while the homeowners were absent, commemorating the month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and reflection.
Authorities say the suspects managed to disable the home’s alarm system and went on to steal over $11,000 worth of cash and jewelry before making their escape in what was described as a gray or silver minivan. In an effort to seek justice swiftly, the Anaheim PD has released security video images of the suspects and is asking anyone with information to step up immediately and contact them.
One of the suspects was captured on security footage, as described in a story by ABC7, sporting light pink shorts with a black jacket, black hat, and sunglasses, while the other wore a black shirt with denim shorts and black shoes. One man was seen casually walking past the home, seemingly preoccupied with a cell phone.
The break-in has left a lingering impact on the family victimized, with ABC7 reporting that the homeowner's children are "terrified" and are now afraid to even sleep in their bedrooms. In a personal plea, Detective Scaglione of the Anaheim Police Department has urged the public to help identify the thieves. In a statement, obtained by Anaheim PD's Instagram, Scaglione encourages anyone who can recognize the men in the images, or has any relevant information, to contact him directly as part of community efforts to deter crime and boost safety in their neighborhoods.
The police are offering assurance that any tips can be given anonymously. If you happen to have any information pertaining to the crime or recognize the individuals in the released photos, please get in touch with Detective Scaglione at (714) 765-1185 or via email at [email protected].
