Arlington is set to host its third annual Disability Resource Expo, offering a robust array of resources and opportunities for individuals living with disabilities. The free event, organized by the National Federation of the Blind of Texas (NFBTX) Arlington Chapter, will occur from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 17 at the Southwest Branch Library. Attendees can expect to find over a dozen organizations focused on services such as adaptive technology, service animals, and community support programs.

"We work to promote better services and opportunities for blind children in education, adults needing help adjusting to blindness, those seeking services from the state in rehabilitation, and job seekers working toward maximum employment," Jodie Desmond, president of the NFBTX Arlington Chapter, described the event's goals in a statement detailed by the City of Arlington. The expo is designed to be a networking hub for community organizations and those impacted by various levels of disabilities and blindness.

With an emphasis on inclusion and connectivity, the expo provides families, caregivers, and individuals with insights into vocational rehabilitation, accessible transit, and programs for blind children. Participants can also learn how to get involved in raising puppies for future guide dogs. The attending vendors will be Guide Dogs for the Blind, The Seeing Eye, Christal Vision, Inc., Mission Arlington, and REACH Centers for Independent Living.
