A standoff has unfolded in Lake City this morning after a 51-year-old man reportedly opened fire at a passing car and then holed up inside his apartment, Seattle Police report. Officers, along with SWAT and the Hostage Negotiation Team, have since set up a perimeter around the residence, located in the 12500 block of Lake City Way, in response to the incident that started around 6 a.m.
While the details remain sparse, the Seattle Police Blotter has confirmed there is probable cause to arrest the suspect on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and he is also facing a pending felony warrant, and the scene remains very much active as officers continue their work to ensure the safety of neighborhood residents.
Authorities have not yet provided information about any injuries or possible hostages inside the apartment. As the standoff continues, updates are expected to be released by the Seattle Police Department.
