Baltimore is gearing up to become more bike-friendly, with the introduction of Lime's latest e-bike, the LimeBike. According to a report by FOX Baltimore, Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced the upcoming addition of 200 new LimeBike units in the city. This move comes after Lime's successful international pilot in 2024 and is part of its larger plan to deploy over 10,000 micromobility vehicles in North America and Europe.

The decision to roll out the LimeBike in Baltimore follows substantial investments in bike infrastructure like protected bike lanes, safer street designs, and designated parking areas. "The arrival of Lime's new LimeBike marks another step forward for sustainable transportation in Baltimore, and we are proud they chose our city for its debut,” Mayor Scott said, as recalled by NottinghamMD. The city's Department of Transportation Director, Veronica McBeth, also emphasized the importance of making dockless vehicles convenient and accessible for all residents of Baltimore.

Lime's latest e-bike model is designed to cater to a broader audience, including those who have difficulty pedaling for extended periods or prefer a more comfortable, seated travel option to replace car trips. "During our initial pilots last year, it was clear that the LimeBike earned the love of our riders, with people returning to them frequently for local travel," Joe Kraus, President at Lime, told NottinghamMD. According to recent statistics mentioned in the announcement, e-bike usage in Baltimore has nearly doubled since last year, signaling a strong demand for this form of transportation.

Lime's Director of Government Relations, Erika Duthely, reaffirmed the company's commitment to inclusivity and sustainability in transportation at the launch event. "We’re grateful to the city for its embrace of sustainable transportation and we look forward to deepening our partnership," she said in a statement obtained by FOX Baltimore. The new LimeBikes come with adjustable seats and improved overall stability, catering to the feedback received from women and older riders in particular. This is a part of Lime’s ongoing investment in Baltimore, which also includes updates to vehicle technology and safety measures.

It's worth noting that since Lime began operations in Baltimore back in 2017, riders have logged more than 3.7 million trips on Lime vehicles. The data from 2025 alone points to the popularity of these micromobility options, with over 428,000 e-scooter trips and nearly 79,000 e-bike trips recorded in the city. These numbers are a clear indication of the residents' embrace of these green transit modes. The company also continues its efforts to refine the ride experience with improvements like ergonomic hand grips and a convenient 'sliding clamp' style phone holder for easy navigation.
