A teenage suspect is now facing adult charges after a shooting in Southeast Baltimore that injured another teen. According to FOX Baltimore, the incident took place on Monday evening, when police found two male teens with gunshot wounds. Source reports indicate that a 15-year-old has been charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder, assault, and handgun violations.
Authorities were called to the scene in the 300 block of South Macon Street at around 7:39 p.m., where they discovered the victims. The alleged assailant, who ironically also suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was taken into custody after being treated for his injuries. Police have worked quickly to unravel the details behind this violent altercation, which left a 16-year-old with wounds that required hospitalization. Both teenagers were listed in stable condition post-incident.
The investigation, led by Southeast District Shooting detectives, has further revealed that the altercation may have stemmed from an argument. In a statement detailed by WBALTV, a witness described the scene: "You just heard a pop, and then you heard a pop. Then, you heard police, emergency vehicles coming." The witness lamented the current state of conflict resolution among youth, saying, "Young kids don't know how to fight anymore. They need an outlet, they need to learn priorities and self respect. They need to learn how to protect themselves other than using guns."
