Billy Joel, the music icon known for hits like "Piano Man," has officially called off his concert leg, including a much-anticipated performance in Pittsburgh. Citing health issues, the singer-songwriter has been diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus—a condition affecting the brain's ventricles and disrupting cognition, reasoning, and coordination, according to the Alzheimer's Association.
Initially planned to share the stage with Rod Stewart on July 5 at Acrisure Stadium, Joel has been forced, under medical guidance, to abstain from live performances during his recovery period. As Joel shared in a statement on Facebook, "has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance." Aside from regretting disappointing his fans, Joel expressed gratitude for their understanding during this challenging time, according to WTAE.
The operational logistics for those holding tickets have also been outlined. Refunds will be processed automatically using the original payment method used for the purchase. As reported by CBS News, ticket holders don't need to take any action unless their tickets were transferred, in which case the refund will go to the original purchaser.
