Boulder County is once again stepping up its efforts to guard against the ever-persistent threat of wildfires. The county has announced that it's accepting applications for the 2025 Wildfire Partners General Rebate Program, providing up to $500 in rebates for residents undertaking certain fire mitigation actions on their properties. Ashley Stolzmann, Boulder County Commissioner, emphasized the program's importance, saying, "Wildfire is a year-round threat that impacts all of us in Boulder County," as per Boulder County News.

The rebates are accessible to homeowners and renters alike, to actively, rather than passively, reduce risks posed by wildfires. "This rebate program is about empowering residents to take meaningful, preventative action. Every step we take today helps build a safer, more resilient community tomorrow," said Stolzmann, as obtained by Boulder County News. The program has identified four key strategies from the previous year and has expanded to include two additional measures for 2025, all aimed at reducing the vulnerability of homes and landscapes to wildfires.

Residents who wish to participate must complete the approved mitigation actions, such as replacing fence material with noncombustible options and removing flammable vegetation from their property, to qualify for the rebates. Two new actions for 2025 include decluttering areas under decks and protecting home siding with noncombustible materials. These tasks align with the county's larger vision of fostering a landscape more resilient to the unpredictable nature of wildfires.

According to the Boulder County News, the program was a significant success in its inaugural year, with 754 residents receiving rebates totaling $327,583. By incentivizing proactive behavior, Boulder County officials are hopeful residents will continue to make strides in wildfire preparedness. The deadline to apply for the rebate program is October 10, and all work must be completed before the end of that month.
