The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan (BGCSEM) is expanding its reach with a new branch at Michigan Central's 30-acre technology and cultural hub in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood. The club targets the development of youth talent in sectors like mobility, technology, and advanced manufacturing. According to the Michigan Chronicle, BGCSEM's President and CEO, Shawn Wilson, announced this strategic move on Wednesday.

Integrating directly into the heart of Michigan Central’s community of startups and industry leaders, the program is designed to prepare and actively involve the youth in shaping future economies. The new facility is expected to become a talent incubator serving over 1,000 youth annually, reflecting BGCSEM's broader strategy for economic mobility and stabilization of the local workforce through youth development.

The collaboration will include key features like a 3C Sports Autonomous Training Center, a Fashion & Tech Incubator, and an Innovation Lab where participants can gain hands-on experience in robotics, digital media, and software development, detailed in statements provided by the  Michigan Central website.

Carolina Pluszczynski, Michigan Central's Chief Operating Officer, shared enthusiasm about seeing things through the kids' eyes and providing them with internship pathways at startups located in Michigan Central in a statement reported by FOX 2 Detroit. At the same time, Nate Wallace, Head of Civic Partnerships at Michigan Central, observed that the collaboration's capacity to connect education, opportunity, and innovation in powerful ways will transform youth development and economic growth.
