The City of Brighton is set to kick off its Growing Grads Young Entrepreneurs Program with two half-day bootcamps, designed to imbue participating youth with the essential skills needed to launch and operate a business. The bootcamps, open to those 19 years old and younger, will take over the Brighton City Hall at 500 S. 4th Avenue on Tuesday, June 24, and Wednesday, June 25, as noted in a recent announcement. The initiative covers a breadth of topics from ideation to the intricacies of managing expenses.
Young entrepreneurs in the making will be sorted by age, with the group 12 and under slated for workshops from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while their elder counterparts, 13 and over, will engage from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. each day. The lucky participants, selected on a limited basis, must register for an orientation scheduled for Monday, June 23, between 3 and 5 p.m. According to the City of Brighton, completion of the program promises more than just educational takeaways, it paves the way for these youth to showcase and sell their goods at the Brighton City BBQ on July 17.
At the heart of this program lies a clear message of empowerment. “We’re thrilled to offer this unique opportunity through the Growing Grads program,” Tawnya Russell, Manager of Youth Services, celebrated the initiative. “The Young Entrepreneurs Program gives youth a chance to explore the world of entrepreneurship—an exciting path that could become one of many ways they achieve success after high school. It’s all about helping them build confidence, creativity, and real-world skills they can carry into the future,” she said, as per the City of Brighton.
