A new magic show has opened in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighborhood. Located behind Precision Clock & Watch at 449 Court Street, the venue, called The Hanley, features performances of sleight of hand and offers a full bar with specialty cocktails.

In the former location of P.J. Hanley’s renowned bar, magician Greg Dubin, also known as Dubini, has created a venue for close-up magic that offers a personal and engaging experience. According to an interview with Gothamist, Dubin said, "I just started to see all of these magic venues opening around the city and I said, 'Why not me? Let's do it. It's my time." Since last month, the magician has been performing to such demand that the original one-month residency has been extended through at least the end of this month.

The venue pays homage to the location's heritage and features an intimate setting with just 20 seats per show, allowing for a close-up view of the magic. "This is close-up magic the way it's meant to be seen—up close, personal, and impossible," Dubini told BroadwayWorld. The show runs from Thursday to Saturday.

Tickets have been selling out regularly, reflecting significant interest in Dubin's venture. Both magic enthusiasts and casual spectators have been attending the speakeasy-style venue. Carroll Gardens resident Kristi Pallante, a repeat patron, shared with Gothamist her enthusiasm: "It was a great excuse to get all of our friends to come to our neighborhood and hang out with us instead of us going to the suburbs and hanging out with them." Meanwhile, others praise the personal touch Dubin brings to each show, including managing all the technical aspects directly from his phone.
