Charlotte residents can to gradually expect an upturn in temperatures with sunny skies dominating the forecast over the coming days. According to the latest update from the National Weather Service (NWS), clear skies are set to become the norm following partly sunny conditions earlier today. Temperatures are slated to rise, reaching a comfortable high near 80 degrees as west winds move at 6 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 31 mph.
The evening is looking to equally be clear with a low temperature around 56 degrees, while the northwest wind will continue to blow at a speed of 5 to 10 mph, with possible gusts reaching 23 mph. "Clear, with a low around 56," reports NWS. Friday's forecast promises sunshine with the thermometer just shy of the previous day at a high of 77 degrees. Westerly winds will persist at a slightly reduced speed of 6 to 10 mph and could gust up to 21 mph.
As for the weekend, both Saturday and Friday night maintain a similar pattern—mostly clear skies with temperature lows averaging in the low-to-mid 50s, and daily highs nearing the 78-degree mark. Calm winds will be expected come Saturday afternoon providing a mild backdrop for any outdoor activities.
However, change is on the horizon. The NWS warns of a 30 percent chance of showers Sunday afternoon, with the possibility of thunderstorms by nighttime when the lows will hover around 61 degrees. Nearing Memorial Day, the likelihood of showers increases to a 50 percent chance during the day and soars to 60 percent for showers and potential thunderstorms come Monday night. "Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm," projects the NWS, with similar expectations rolling into Tuesday.
The forecast wraps up with Wednesday, promising a mix of sun and clouds accompanied by a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, culminating in a high near a consistent 78 degrees. While sunny days are set to soon be a just slightly less common sight, the warmth seems to be here to stay for Charlotte locals for the time being.
