During National Foster Care Month, Clark County reported the need for more foster families. There are about 3,000 children in foster care daily, with many sibling groups separated due to a shortage of available homes. Clark County Family Services mentioned that about 58% of siblings are placed in different homes, according to the Clark County.

Clark County Family Services has added 100 new beds for children in care and has seen 83 families become licensed for two or more children since May 2024. Raise the Future provides training for foster parents, equipping them with essential skills to care for children who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect.

Clark County needs 250-300 more foster homes to meet the needs of children in care. "We still need about 250-300 more foster homes to meet the needs of our children in foster care. All of our kids belong in families. They deserve opportunities to build supportive, caring relationships that nurture their development, well-being, and future goals," said Frank Prado. Current foster, relative, and kinship caregivers were recognized for their commitment. Those interested in becoming foster parents can register for information sessions at clarkcountyfostercare.com.
