The Sarasota City Commission has appointed Dave Bullock as Interim City Manager following a unanimous vote during a special meeting on Tuesday. According to the Sarasota City's website, Bullock will begin his role on Tuesday next week.
Bullock brings over 30 years of experience in local government. He previously served as CEO of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (2019–2021), Town Manager of Longboat Key (2011–2018), and Deputy Administrator for Sarasota County (1997–2011). His background includes experience in managing daily operations and city budgets.
Bullock will replace Doug Jeffcoat, who temporarily held the Interim City Manager position after Marlon Brown’s retirement. Jeffcoat, who was scheduled to retire on June 1, will return to his role as Public Works Director to assist during the transition and help with budget planning.
The City Commission has also approved the next steps in selecting a permanent City Manager. The Procurement Division will send letters of interest to seven firms recommended by the Florida City and County Management Association’s City Manager Search Guide, seeking their interest in conducting the search.
