In Deer Park, El Rancho Grande Tex-Mex Grill was left with 225 unclaimed tacos after a customer did not pick up a $757 order. The restaurant reported that the customer stopped responding and blocked calls after the food was prepared. "I understand things happen, but the fact that she took the time to block us and didn’t even have the courtesy to call — that’s what upset me," co-owner Dynora Guzman told FOX 26 Houston.
The community showed support for a local restaurant after unclaimed taco orders were offered for free on Facebook. According to KHOU, some customers visited to eat the tacos, while others made donations. "We had people buying salsa and giving us 10 times what it was worth," said Dynora Guzman. The restaurant recovered its losses within a few hours through support from the local community.
Guzman faced challenges due to a no-show order but received strong support from the Deer Park community. In a KHOU interview, she said, "It really hurt. You put us behind, and without the community's support, we would have lost a lot." Michelle Crate, a frequent diner, shared her support for El Rancho Grande Tex-Mex Grill, saying, "It's not just about eating. It's about socializing with your neighbors and friends." The situation emphasizes the importance of community support for small businesses.
