Denver commuters have a new shiny bit of infrastructure to marvel at on East Colfax Avenue. The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) has just unveiled the first of what will be a series of arches marking the stations for the upcoming Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. A towering 21-foot steel arch now spans across the BRT station platform at East Colfax Avenue and Franklin Street, a preview of the future transit experience.

The new arch is not just an aesthetic addition; it's also functional, designed to provide shelter and shade to riders. In total, there will be 32 of these arches to be installed. However, Denverites will have to patiently wait to fully utilize them as the BRT service is slated to only start running in a couple of years, in 2027. The goal is to quicken to significantly reduce travel time along one of the city's busiest corridors with dedicated lanes and efficient service.

According to DOTI, these new stops are part of a larger effort to enhance public transportation in the city. The BRT on East Colfax Avenue, in particular, aims to offer high-frequency transit service with the added convenience of dedicated travel lanes in each direction.
