A local Detroit gentlemen's club, The Legendary Sting, has been shuttered by police after allegations surfaced that minors were allowed inside the establishment. As CBS News Detroit reported, the sting operation unfolded over the weekend when roughly 20 individuals under the age of 21 were discovered at the club during a birthday celebration, some as young as 14 years old. Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison underscored the grave nature of the incident, stating, "I know you want to grow up fast, but this is dangerous. You know, a lot of kids can get lured into a life of human trafficking. It's a lot of things that happen in these adult clubs where children should not be exposed to."
FOX 2 Detroit obtained information indicating that a concerned mother located her child at the premises, prompting her to alert authorities. Her report led to the swift intervention by the Detroit police force, who executed a search warrant and confiscated surveillance equipment as part of their ongoing investigation.
According to The Detroit News, Chief Bettison conveyed a message to party promoters and business owners during a media briefing, "To party promoters or to anybody: if you're going to have parties and entice our children into establishments and venues that are meant for adults, we will use every aspect of city government to shut you down." The club's management took to Instagram to announce their closure and express gratitude to their staff and patrons for over two decades of operation, despite the current controversy.
