As Memorial Day approaches, Douglas County is calling its residents to come together to remember and honor the military personnel who have paid the ultimate price in service to the United States. A series of commemorative ceremonies is scheduled for Monday, May 26, offering a solemn space for reflection and gratitude.
According to Douglas County, the county will hold multiple ceremonies at various locations, including the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. The community is invited to join at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock at 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. ceremony at both Fort Logan National Cemetery and Bear Canon Cemetery, located at St. Philip in the Field Church in Sedalia. The Highlands Ranch Veterans Monument will host an event at 11:45 a.m., providing another venue for those wishing to pay their respects.
The county highlighted the importance of this day, not just as a holiday, but as an opportunity to connect with the true cost of freedom. It's a time to remember those who have fallen, to acknowledge the heavy burden borne by families, and to remind those who have served or continue to serve, that their sacrifices are never forgotten.
