The Downtown Detroit streets are revving up for a high-octane weekend as the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix makes a roaring comeback, kicking off on May 30 and spanning through June 1, featuring the 35th running of the NTT IndyCar Series among other racing spectaculars. As part of the festivities, the Comerica Bank Free Prix Day on May 30 offers fans gratis admission to Grandstands 1 & 9; however, unlike previous years, it appears that paddock access is not included this time-around, as WXYZ reports, adding to the exclusivity of the event.
While the main event—the NTT IndyCar Series Grand Prix—waved its green flag on June 1 at 12:47 p.m., race enthusiasts had three full days of practice and qualifiers from the INDY NXT to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship to get their engines going—the full schedule of events was detailed by IndyStar, including some juicy bits of pre-race analysis and predictions.
Off-track, the event wasn't just about the smell of burning rubber, as performances from EDM heavyweights Gryffin and Evan Giia on May 31 took the energy from the streets to the stage, with separate tickets needed for concertgoers wanting to shake it off after a day of speed; race event tickets weren't valid for these heart-pumping afterparties, CBS News Detroit informed eager music fans.
For those not content with a single seat, parking and transportation for the Grand Prix could be found via several apps and transportation services, including the Detroit People Mover and Qline, not to mention ride-sharing options to skirt any parking lot madness; in case you can't snag one of those coveted spots—public parking was nonexistent at several garages during race weekend—but never fear, because according to WXYZ, plenty of additional surface lots were available to accommodate the influx of race enthusiasts.
