Early Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in the kitchen of the upscale French restaurant Zinqué, located in Westlake Village's Westlake Commons mall. The Ventura County Fire Department responded to the emergency before dawn, with the first crews arriving on scene to find "smoke and flames coming from a free-standing restaurant," KTLA reports.
An aggressive firefighting strategy successfully confined the fire to the kitchen, sparing the rest of the establishment from disaster. As black smoke loomed into the sky, fire crews worked tirelessly to subdue the blaze. The extent of the damage, particularly to the kitchen, remains unclear, with no details released immediately following the incident.
The cause of the fire at Zinqué is currently under investigation, and no further information has been provided. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported thanks to the timely efforts of the Ventura County Fire Department, which shared imagery of firefighters on the roof as they battled the flames effectively.
Following the containment of the fire, the Ventura County Fire Department's Public Information Officer shared an update on the situation via social media, stating, "Firefighters launched an aggressive attack and quickly knocked down the fire, containing it to the kitchen area." Crew members were expected to stay at the location, as noted by the department's post, for salvage and overhaul operations, indicating a devotion to thorough work, despite the early hour of the emergency.
