Tragedy struck on Interstate 10 near Roland Road yesterday afternoon when a solo vehicle collision resulted in the death of a driver. KSAT reported that at around 12:15 p.m., a man in his 30s lost control of his vehicle while traveling at what witnesses described as an "unsafe speed," subsequently crashing into a guardrail.
Despite the swift response from emergency services, the man, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, succumbed to his life-threatening injuries after being rushed to a local hospital. San Antonio Police Department officials closed the eastbound section of the interstate, anticipated to reopen within an hour. While weaving through heavy traffic and attempting to pass a large truck at the time of the accident, the man was driving a silver sedan, as noted by Fox San Antonio.
The closure of the highway caused significant delays as authorities conducted their investigation and worked to clear the crash site. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, which spared further harm and damage. The identity of the deceased driver has not been released, pending notification of next kin.
