A car sale in Sacramento County led to a criminal investigation after a father and son were accused of attempting to rob the seller. The suspects, 41-year-old Gabriel-Stefan Bebe and his 16-year-old son, allegedly tampered with the car engine and used sleight of hand to shortchange the seller, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
A 65-year-old man was selling his car for $10,000 when he was approached by Bebe and his minor son. During the inspection, Bebe reportedly sprayed oil in the engine bay and suggested the car had serious mechanical issues, leading to a negotiated price of $6,000. The seller later realized that the teenager had taken some of the cash, leaving him with $3,800. When the seller attempted to document the situation with his phone, the teenager pushed him. No injuries were reported in the incident, as stated by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook page, detectives arrested a father and son, the Bebes, in connection with a robbery scheme. The younger Bebe was sent to Juvenile Hall, and his father posted a $50,000 bond. A court appearance is set for May 12. Detectives believe there may be other victims and are asking for public help.
