An ordinary act of kindness by a Folsom police officer led to an unexpected turn of events when an interaction with a stranded motorist resulted in the discovery of illegal drugs and a loaded firearm. The incident occurred on May 1st, as detailed in a Facebook post by the Folsom Police Department. Initially, an officer responded to a call for assistance from a woman, identified as 47-year-old Kelly Long of Sacramento, who had run out of gas near the 2700 block of East Bidwell Street.
After providing help, the officer later observed Long acting in a manner that raised worries. Upon being questioned by the officer, she admitted to having drugs and a gun in her vehicle. "A search turned up a loaded .38 revolver, over 23 grams of meth, and drug paraphernalia," as stated by the Folsom Police Department. Long was subsequently arrested and faced multiple charges, including possession of a concealed weapon.
This seemingly routine encounter underscores the complexities officers often navigate; innocuous situations can swiftly pivot to matters of public safety. Long, following her arrest, has been booked into the Sacramento County Jail. The charges against her include possession of drugs and having drugs while armed with a loaded firearm, according to the Folsom Police Department.
