Former police chief Hollie Chadwick has announced her campaign for mayor of Henderson. Chadwick left her position as police chief and is now challenging the current mayor, Michelle Romero, who has been in office since January 2023 and is running for re-election, according to Fox5Vegas.
Chadwick was appointed police chief in May 2023 but was placed on leave in February 2024 and fired three weeks later. City Manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause said she had concerns about Chadwick’s ability "to make cultural and operational improvements" in the police department. During her time as chief, Chadwick faced accusations of covering up an officer’s DUI and engaging in "union-busting" behaviors, as reported by News3LV. There was no separation agreement between Chadwick and the city.
Chadwick is expected to officially launch her campaign in front of Henderson City Hall later today. The mayoral election will take place in 2026, giving candidates time to develop their platforms and voters time to decide. Both Chadwick and Mayor Romero are expected to share their plans for Henderson as the campaign continues.
