In a straightforward incident in Harris County, deputies responded to a crash involving a single vehicle in the early hours last Tuesday. The site, located at the 5600 block of N Sam Houston Pkwy W, quickly became the center of attention as law enforcement arrived to assess the situation. According to the report, the driver, Daniel McKibben, displayed clear signs of intoxication, an observation that was to soon be confirmed by his egregious blood alcohol content.
The driver in question, McKibben, steadfastly refused to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests as requested by the deputies on scene. His reluctance, however, could not shield the stark reality—the results from the investigation revealed that his blood alcohol level stood at 0.201, flagrantly over twice the legal limit permissible for operating a vehicle. This discovery swiftly escalated the matter from a mere traffic incident to a serious criminal offense.
In the wake of the revelations, Constable Mark Herman's office took decisive action. They didn’t hesitate to place McKibben under arrest. He was subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail, facing charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). As for the judicial proceedings that await him, it’s been disclosed that his bond was set at a mere $100 out of County Court 10, a figure that might invite discourse on the proportionality of bail to offense gravity.
"Daniel James McKibben was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated," declared Constable Mark Herman in the aftermath of the event. The Constable's office is not only active in the enforcement of the law but also engages the community to virtually ride along through their digital platforms such as the “C4 NOW” mobile app, which aims to transparently offer live feeds on crime, arrests, and traffic updates within the area.
