With summer approaching, Hernando County parents are gearing up for the return of the Sheriff’s R.O.A.R Summer Day Camp, as announced by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office on its official Facebook page. This anticipated camp, meant for children between the ages of 6-12, aims to create a summer filled with action-packed and fun-filled experiences. Making strides from last year's success, organizers hope to see many new and happy faces, enhancing the community's spirit and ensuring children have a memorable summer.
However, those keen on securing a spot for their kids need to act quickly; while three of the four sessions are already full, several spaces remain available for Session 3 at Hernando High, taking place from June 23-27 and this may well be the last chance for parents to enroll their children before it's too late, the Sheriff's Office took to social media to stress that prompt sign-ups are crucial this time around. As a measure to combat no-shows, a $25 non-refundable deposit per camper will be required, reassuring parents that slots are firmly reserved while also reinvesting the gathered funds back into the camp programs.
Interested participants are directed to pay attention on May 1, when the deposit submission link will go live on the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Facebook page; once the deposit is made, an email will be dispatched containing a unique application link per child - the office underscores the importance of adherence to this protocol and advises that duplicate submissions will be rejected. For those registering multiple children, it is imperative to include each child's name in the payment note, as proper documentation is key to the application process.
Reflecting on the structure of the camp, every session is a week-long journey running Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, with 60 spots open each week, though priority is given to Hernando County kids who have never experienced the camp before and it is specified that each child can only attend one session ensuring that as many different children as possible can benefit from this opportunity.
