A high-speed police pursuit on Saturday afternoon in San Pedro resulted in a severe traffic incident, necessitating vehicle extrication and sending multiple people to the hospital. According to an alert from the Los Angeles Fire Department, the chase ended tragically at around 12:39 PM on the 1900 block of S Pacific Avenue.
An initial report from the scene detailed six casualties, with victims ranging in age. A 25-year-old male, a 60-year-old male, a 35-year-old female, and a 50-year-old female were all reported to be in serious condition following the incident. They were set to be transported by ambulances to local hospitals, as the firefighters from stations including FS 48 and Batt 6, along with multiple rescue ambulances, responded to the emergency. Having incurred various injuries, their conditions at the hospital awaited further updates, the Fire Department initially stated.
However, a subsequent update from the LAFD clarified the earlier patient count. Only two of the six patients involved, the 25-year-old male and the 35-year-old female, required transportation to a local hospital for their injuries. The remaining four individuals, after being assessed at the scene by emergency medical personnel, ultimately declined transport by the fire department.
