The City of Hilliard is rolling out the welcome mat for six new interns joining various departments this summer. The interns will be hands-on across the board, from public-sector planning and communications to geographical information systems (GIS) and law enforcement, offering them a taste of city workings.
The Post Athens and Thread Magazine writer Cami Henry-Seymore will take on the mantle of Community Relations Intern. A student of Ohio University, Henry-Seymore's summer activities will revolve around communications, marketing, and social media. "I'm incredibly excited to get started and get involved with the community," Henry-Seymore told City of Hilliard, Ohio's official website. When she's not working, Cami keeps herself busy with reading, hiking, and catching live music when she can.
Over in the Planning Division, Xander Stultz will be clocking in as the Planning Intern. A master's student at The Ohio State University, Stultz plans to dip his toes in zoning approvals and city code. "I want to work with people and help build the connection between community constituents and the planning process," said Stultz, according to an announcement from the City of Hilliard's website, signaling his eagerness to bridge the gap between public interest and urban development.
Mariam Doumbouya and Holly Van Wagner are set to join as GIS Interns in the Operations Department. Doumbouya, a senior at The Ohio State University focusing on geographic information systems, is looking forward to expanding her skill set. "This summer, I am excited to acquire new skills and learn as much as possible about the City of Hilliard," she shared in a statement from the City of Hilliard's website. Van Wagner, meanwhile, from Wright State University, anticipates that the internship will provide a valuable jumpstart to her environmental sciences career. Despite their studies, both interns also find time for the outdoors, assembling an impressive Lego collection in Van Wagner's case.
