Hillsborough County is rallying its residents in Del Rio and Dover to come together for a "Fight the Blight" cleanup effort, slated for May 19 through May 23. As reported by Hillsborough County's official newsroom, this initiative aims to address illegal dump sites and code violations, which can negatively influence residents' well-being and depreciate neighborhood property values.
Community members living within specific boundaries are being asked to place items like old furniture, electronic waste, debris, and up to five non-commercial tires curbside for pickup. The county's Rapid Response team will take charge of removing these materials. The team has been instructed to collect items left at the curb by 5 a.m. on the given dates, and hence, residents are recommended to place their unwanted items out the night before.
Eligible residents for this cleanup are defined by the following boundaries: for Del Rio, north of Porpoise Drive, east of North 50th Street, south of Sligh Avenue, and west of Trout Street. In Dover, the cleanup will cover the north of Blackjack Road, east of Bethlehem Road, south of East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and west of Lindsey Street. To assist participants, detailed boundaries and guidelines have been laid out on the Hillsborough County website.
This clean-up drive is part of the county’s ongoing efforts to improve neighborhood aesthetics and safety, while also making disposal of large items more convenient for its residents. The Rapid Response team, whose hauling away of materials will ensure that the items collected do not end up cluttering and harming the local environment. Residents of the areas marked for cleanup are urged to participate in this effort to enhance the overall quality and visual appeal of their community.
