Governor Josh Green of Honolulu will testify before the U.S. Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations in Washington, D.C. He will discuss the management of infectious disease outbreaks, including his experience during the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Office of the Governor.
Governor Green will travel to Washington, D.C., on Monday, as a guest of U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal. Blumenthal is the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs' investigative subcommittee. Green is expected to return on Friday, as reported by the Office of the Governor.
Senator Blumenthal’s office has expressed interest in Governor Green because of his experience as a physician and public official, relevant to the hearing on federal health agencies and public health. While Governor Green is in the capital, Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke will serve as acting Governor and handle state operations until his return to Hawai‘i, as stated by the Office of the Governor.
