Over the weekend, an accident at 4200 Bennington Street in Houston led to the arrest of 42-year-old Abdul Jubay Davis, who has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. The collision, which occurred at around 6:50 p.m. last Saturday, resulted in the death of a 38-year-old male driver and injuries to another, as reported by the City of Houston.
Details from the Houston Police Department (HPD) Vehicular Crimes Division indicate that Davis, driving a gray Ford F150 truck, was proceeding at a high rate of speed and ran a red light, subsequently causing a chain reaction of collisions involving a red Chevrolet Impala and a black Honda Civic. The Impala lost control, rolled over, then struck the Civic, whose driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The aftermath saw the driver of the Impala transported to the hospital to treat his injuries, while Davis also required hospitalization. During the investigation, authorities determined that Davis was intoxicated at the time of the crash, which led to the charges placed against him. Details regarding a booking photo of Davis have not been released due to his hospitalization.
According to Houston police, Sergeant V. Vo and Officer K. Stout from the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division responded to the incident. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department were also at the scene and are the ones, who confirmed the fatality. The Ford truck's passenger received treatment and was released at the location of the incident.
