On a typical day where aisles buzz with the sound of commerce and productivity, a swift operation unfolded at Home Depot on the North Freeway—result of a theft turned into an arrest. According to a Facebook post by Constable Mark Herman's Office, deputies were dispatched to the 20100 block of the North Freeway on May 10th after receiving a call about a shoplifting incident.
The male suspect involved, identified as Hung Le, attempted to stealthily move past the checkout lanes with items worth more than $1,281 concealed. Deputies spotted Le attempting to flee in an automobile, but he was promptly apprehended. The fact that Le is a convicted felon added another layer of concern upon his arrest.
During the follow-up, deputies found Le not only with the stolen goods but also a felony amount of marijuana. The stolen merchandise was successfully retrieved and returned to Home Depot, sparing the business further loss. This quick turnaround, from theft to return, speaks to the efficiency of the local law enforcement processes and procedures in responding to retail crime.
"Hung Le was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Theft and Possession of Marijuana. His total bond was set at $8,600.00 out of the 496th District Court and County Court 8," Constable Mark Herman shared in the statement. Ensuring accountability, this incident was swiftly processed through the judicial system, emphasizing the often-unseen grind of law enforcement and judicial entities striving to maintain order.
