U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has taken custody of Hyrum Baquedano-Rodriguez, a Honduran national previously facing serious criminal charges in Virginia. ICE officials reported the arrest occurred on May 2 in Fairfax, after local authorities dropped charges against Baquedano-Rodriguez for abduction and burglary, which included the intent to commit offenses like murder and rape.

According to ICE, Baquedano-Rodriguez was initially apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol back on August 25, 2018, following his illegal entry into the country near Yuma, Arizona. Released on an immigration bond by a DOJ immigration judge in Eloy, Arizona, on January 22, 2019, his presence in the U.S. has been under legal scrutiny ever since. Later on, issued with a notice to appear before an immigration judge, he became entangled with the law on multiple occasions.

Following his initial arrest related to immigration status, Fairfax County Police later arrested Baquedano-Rodriguez on November 9, 2021, on three counts of indecent liberties and indecent exposure, as affirmed in a statement by Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who has emphasized the importance of security. "Protecting Virginians has been a top priority of our administration since day one, and it should be a priority for every leader at the federal, state and local level," Youngkin told reporters.

Records indicate that on multiple occasions, Baquedano-Rodriguez was convicted of several misdemeanors and lesser felonies throughout 2022 and early 2023. These convictions included entering property with intent to damage, petit larceny, disorderly conduct, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

In the latest development, Fairfax County Police had arrested Baquedano-Rodriguez on June 17, 2023, with charges that included abduction with intent to defile and burglary with intent to commit violent crimes inside a residence.
