Irvine's Great Park Gallery is opening its digital doors to a nostalgic throwback expo, "Journey Through the Maze: 45 Years of PAC-MAN," set to offer aficionados of this dot-munching icon a deep dive into its pixelated universe, as the City of Irvine detailed. This free exhibition, running from May 18 to September 28, kicks off with an opening reception that's open to the public from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc., the wizards behind PAC-MAN, are telling the untold stories of this yellow chomper's rise to fame from 1980. The exhibition boasts it's more than just a walk down memory lane, it's a veritable time capsule of gaming goodness.
The PAC-MAN Pixel Drawing and Collage event on the opening day promises a creative spin on Toru Iwatani's brainchild. The PAC-MAN Fingerboarding Experience with Slushcult will be on July 12. First comers can snag exclusive, limited-edition PAC-MAN-themed fingerboards while supplies last.
There's also a "Gaming Through the Ages: A Discussion" slated for August 9, where brainy types from the gaming world dissect the art and science of what makes games stick like PAC-MAN has. The Great Park is easy to find at 8000 Great Park Blvd., in Irvine.
