A Keshena man, Warren Grignon, 43, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl inside the Menominee Tribal Jail, which led to three overdoses and one death. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Senior U.S. District Judge William C. Griesbach issued the sentence yesterday following Grignon’s guilty plea earlier this year to charges of involuntary manslaughter and distribution of controlled substances.

Grignon brought fentanyl into the jail and distributed it to other inmates, resulting in multiple overdoses. Despite emergency response efforts from jail staff, tribal police, and EMTs, one inmate died from the drug exposure.

In addition to the prison sentence, Grignon was ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release and pay $6,943 in restitution to the victim's family. The case was investigated by the Menominee Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew J. Maier prosecuted the case in federal court in Green Bay.
