The Los Angeles Police Department is actively searching for a hit-and-run driver responsible for the death of a pedestrian in South Los Angeles last Friday night. As reported by KTLA, the incident occurred around 10:10 p.m. near the intersection of Wall Street and Manchester Avenue. The victim, described as a man in his 60s, was struck while crossing northbound on Wall Street by a vehicle heading westbound on Manchester Avenue.
Investigators have not yet described the vehicle involved, as confirmed by both CBS News. The driver, identified by police, failed to stop and render aid as mandated by law. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the standing reward of up to $50,000 for details leading to the driver's identification and conviction.
LAPD reminded the public, "Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves," as reported by KTLA.
The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead soon after their arrival. Remaining anonymous, those with relevant information are prompted to contact South Traffic Division Sergeant Nily at 323-421-2500 or to reach out to L.A.
