Las Vegas is expected to experience "dangerously hot temperatures" this weekend, with highs 10 to 15 degrees above normal through Saturday. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for southern Nevada and southeastern California Valleys, including the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, where a "Major" HeatRisk is in effect.
A high-pressure ridge is causing temperatures to rise in Las Vegas, with Friday expected to reach around 103°F. Cloud cover may increase late Saturday night as moisture moves into the area. Three systems—a low near Baja California, Tropical Storm Alvin, and a trough in the Pacific Northwest—could bring more moisture. There is a chance of rain on Sunday, mainly south and east of Interstate 15, according to the National Weather Service.
Las Vegas will see cooler temperatures early next week, with highs falling from the 100s to the low-to-mid 90s. Further cooling is expected Tuesday and Wednesday as pressure levels drop. The National Weather Service forecasts low wind speeds and VFR flying conditions with "passing mid and high clouds" through Friday. Spotters are encouraged to report any significant weather changes.
