Las Vegas is expected to see temperatures near 100 degrees this week. Warm and dry conditions will continue, with afternoon breezes increasing on Thursday and Friday as a weather system moves north of the area, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service stated, "A weak shortwave will push through to our north on Thursday and Friday, and mainly work to enhance regional wind speeds," but winds are not expected to require advisories, with slight increases possible in the western Mojave Desert. Harry Reid Airport reported, "Expect diurnal wind directions today," with "southwesterly winds with speeds between 8 and 12 kts and an occasional gust between 15 and 20 kts." Clear skies are forecast throughout the period, with increased wind gusts beginning Thursday afternoon.
After the weather system moves out on Saturday morning, temperatures will remain 2 to 5 degrees above normal. There is a chance of a low-pressure system developing that could bring more seasonal temperatures and possible storms. The National Weather Service estimates a 70% chance that above-normal temperatures will continue. Spotters are asked to report significant weather as usual.
