Residents with plans to hit the sands along various parts of Los Angeles County's enigmatic coastline have been slapped with a rather unfriendly advisory. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is waving a red flag, warning beachgoers to steer clear of engaging in aquatic activities such as swimming, surfing, and the like at several popular beach spots due to elevated bacterial levels found in recent water tests.
The areas where these warnings have taken effect include Surf Haven Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach, Santa Monica Pier, and the Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro, among others. Specifically, the warnings were issued for areas stretching 100 yards up and down the coast from each listed location.
A statement on the Los Angeles County Public Health website spells out the details of each warning, mapping out the exact impact zones for those who want to be in the know before they go. Concerned citizens should take advantage of the contact provided by the Public Health Department at (626) 430-5360.
