Early this morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a blaze that engulfed a two-story Craftsman-style home in Hollywood. According to the LAFD alert, the fire at 1744 N Wilton Pl was reported to be fully involved across both floors and posed a threat to an adjacent structure upon their arrival.
Efforts to subdue the fire were aggressive, with firefighters having to swiftly go into defensive mode to battle the flames from the exterior using heavy streams. They managed to quickly curb any extension to the nearby structure's eaves. "No victims found or injuries reported at this time," the LAFD stated, indicating the house appeared to be vacant when the incident occurred.
It took the LAFD personnel, numbering approximately 70 at the height of the operation, 84 minutes to achieve a knockdown of the fire. The response teams on the scene included a variety of specialized units, such as the Urban Search and Rescue and Hazardous Materials squads.
With the fire now extinguished, city departments like LADOT and LADBS, along with the gas company, have been asked to arrive on-site. The firefighters continue to stay at the location to completely overhaul the site, ensuring that no hotspots remain that could reignite the flames. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and will likely be under investigation following the thorough examination by the relevant authorities.
