Starting May 19 at 6 a.m. until May 21 at 6 a.m., northbound lanes on Maryland Parkway at Tropicana Avenue will be closed. Southbound Maryland Parkway will be reduced to two lanes. This is part of the $10.3 million Maryland Parkway Overhead Utility Underground project. Residents and commuters should expect traffic disruptions, according to the Clark County.
Construction is underway to improve infrastructure by moving power lines underground along Maryland Parkway, between Tropicana Avenue and Flamingo Road. Traffic on Tropicana Avenue will be reduced to two lanes in each direction during the work. Drivers are advised to use Eastern Avenue or University Center Drive as alternative routes to avoid delays, as reported by the Clark County.
Construction is scheduled during local commencement events, which are expected to increase traffic. Officials from Clark County stated, "Drivers should expect delays in the area, especially as increased traffic is expected for commencement ceremonies at the Thomas & Mack." The CSN commencement will take place on May 19 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and the CCSD graduation on May 20 at 8:30 a.m. Access to nearby businesses and UNLV parking facilities will remain open. The project involves installing underground utility lines, removing existing overhead lines for NV Energy, Cox, and Lumen, and renovating pavement, sidewalks, and curbs. The Waze app is recommended for real-time traffic updates.
