Mayor Muriel Bowser will join DC's seniors for a celebration at the upcoming Senior Fest 2025. Scheduled for today, the event, which dovetails with Older Americans Month, aims to flip the script on aging by promoting activity and engagement among the elderly. Due to inclement weather predicted to dampen outdoor activities, the venue has been moved to the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center. The celebration features music, dancing, entertainment, food, and senior resources.
According to an announcement from Mayor Muriel Bowser's Office, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Department of Aging and Community Living will collaborate for the occasion. Bowser, having prioritized the well-being of Washington, DC's aging population since her tenure began in 2015, will take part in the festivities, illustrating her administration's commitment to ensuring aging with dignity in the nation’s capital. Gaining recognition by Seniorly, Bowser's efforts underwrite the city's #1 ranking as the best retirement destination in the United States.
Senior Fest 2025 commences at 10:30 a.m., with Bowser’s speaking segment slated for 12:45 p.m. Other notable attendees include Thenie Freeman of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Charon P.W. Hines from the Department of Aging and Community Living.
