
The City of Roseville Police Department has welcomed a new member to the team—K-9 Ciro, a specially trained police dog. Ciro recently finished a six-week training program and will work alongside Officer Nuevo to help with tracking, searches, and traffic stops. The Roseville Police Department shared the news on Facebook and thanked the officers who helped train Ciro by wearing bite suits and taking part in practice drills.
In a social media post, they remarked, "Roseville PD welcomes its newest four-legged partner, K-9 Ciro!" continuing on to highlight the completion of the training course saying, "Ciro is excited to join his partner and handler, Officer Nuevo, in fighting crime and getting to know the Roseville community.🐾" The intensity and breadth of the training program promise both Ciro and Officer Nuevo are well-prepared for the demands of law enforcement work within the city, the training not only focused on practical skills but also included learning to build a strong partnership between handler and dog both of which are crucial for the effective performance of a K-9 unit, as stated by the Roseville Police Department.
Furthermore, the retirement of K9 Trainer John Riboni was acknowledged by the department – honoring his two decades of dedication to the training and development of police dogs and handlers. In their farewell message for Riboni, it was stated, "And congratulations to K9 Trainer John Riboni on his retirement! Thanks for everything you've done in the last 20+ years to help our K-9 team learn, grow, and serve Roseville," as per the Roseville Police Department.
