The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating a suspect linked to a series of robberies in Northeast Washington D.C. According to their request, on the early morning of April 19, two individuals fell victim to robberies carried out by the same perpetrator – a sequence of crime that has now jolted the community's sense of safety.
The first incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on the 1600 block of Lincoln Road, where the assailant confronted a victim, demanded money, and proceeded to assault them before fleeing with their belongings. A mere quarter-hour later, a similar confrontation unfolded on the 100 block of Todd Place, involving a knife-wielding suspect who, after forcing a victim to hand over their valuables, made a clean escape. As reported by the MPD, he also claimed to possess a handgun and threatened to shoot.
In an effort to apprehend the suspect, the MPD has released surveillance images captured near the scenes of the crimes. The photos portray a male suspect whose identity remains unknown. The police are encouraging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
These criminal acts have raised alarms amongst residents, calling into question the efficacy of current crime prevention measures in these northeast neighborhoods. To that end, the authorities have intensified their scrutiny and patrols in hopes of deterring further incidents as they work to identify the perpetrator. Individuals with knowledge pertinent to these cases are urged to contact the MPD, as even the smallest detail may prove pivotal.
