On Wednesday, Tiffany and Jason Ramos were hiking near the South Yuba Fork Bridge when they found a dog trapped on a rock in the river. Using ropes from their truck, they reached the dog and secured it. The return was made difficult by the terrain, as reported by the Nevada County Sheriff's Office.
The Ramos family was assisted by a couple on a motorcycle after encountering a difficult situation. The motorcyclist, a climbing instructor, helped the family and their dog, Zen, to safety. The motorcyclist left the scene before officials, including Stefanie Geckler, Supervising Animal Control Officer, could gather his information, as stated by the Nevada County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page, the Ramos family and an unidentified climbing instructor assisted in the rescue of a dog named Zen, who became separated from her owner and two other dogs near the Yuba River. Zen was later reunited with her owner. The Sheriff's Office advised the public to use caution around the fast-moving river and to contact emergency services in similar situations. Sheriff Geckler stated, "While we don’t ever recommend people putting their lives in danger, we’d like to thank the Ramoses and the mystery climbing instructor for their willingness to respond to a dangerous situation to save Zen."
