An Olney teenager has been taken into custody in relation to a crash that occurred back in February, which resulted in a fatality. The Montgomery County Department of Police reported that Caleb Jacob Alie, 17, surrendered to authorities on Tuesday.

According to the official police statement, the incident took place on February 19, when Alie's Jeep Wrangler collided with a Lexus RX350 driven by a Bethesda man, killing him. Detectives from the department's Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) detailed that Alie was driving at excessive speeds of 86 mph in a 40-mph zone, and making dangerous maneuvers through traffic.

The crash on Olney-Sandy Spring Road claimed the life of 56-year-old Isadore Morton Gudelsky. Investigations found that Alie misused a right-turn-only lane to bypass stopped vehicles and was using his cell phone at the time of the collision. Gudelsky, who was trapped and unresponsive in his vehicle, was later pronounced dead at the hospital. A female passenger in the Lexus, who managed to exit the vehicle on her own, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the accident, Alie was hospitalized with injuries that weren't life-threatening. He now faces charges as an adult for manslaughter by vehicle or vessel - gross negligence, as mentioned in police reports. He is currently held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, and a bond hearing is pending.
