
Tragedy struck late Sunday night in Los Angeles' Westlake neighborhood when a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Eighth and Alvarado streets resulted in the death of one pedestrian and left another critically injured, police are still searching for the driver responsible. According to KTLA, the incident was reported around 11:50 p.m. after a vehicle traveling southbound on Alvarado collided with another going westbound on Eighth Street, causing one of the vehicles to spiral out of control onto the sidewalk and hit the two pedestrians.
Emergency services that responded to the chaotic scene found the two victims pinned and in critical condition and they were quickly transported to a nearby hospital where one of them, a 45-year-old man, later died, details of the second patient's condition is not well-known, but they were last reported as critical. FOX LA noted that the identity of the deceased is pending until his family can be notified.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed that the driver of a red Toyota Tacoma fled the scene, leaving their vehicle behind, while the driver of the blue SUV involved stayed back to cooperate with authorities. NBC Los Angeles also mentioned that as of now, no further details about the suspect have been released.
