An Oxnard man, Juan Lopez, is currently detained after authorities seized a substantial quantity of drugs from his possession, a monthlong investigation culminated in a dual-location search operation. Acting upon surveillance intel and investigative leads, the Ventura County Combined Agency Team (VCAT) executed a series of warrants at two Oxnard locations. In the press release disseminated by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, it was detailed how detectives found approximately three pounds of methamphetamine and nearly 1.9 pounds of fentanyl, along with firearms, ammunition, and cash suspected to be linked to drug sales activities. These events unfolded on May 22, 2025, and have been reported to significantly disrupt a notorious drug-trafficking operation.
The search warrants were served at a residence on the 200 block of South E Street and a public storage unit on the 200 block of Montgomery Avenue, locations alleged to be connected to Lopez's drug-distribution enterprise. Investigators managed to swiftly apprehend Lopez, a 35-year-old convicted felon who was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. According to a news release by Sergeant Odilon Malagon, as obtained by Nixle, Lopez faces multiple charges, including possession for sale of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a firearm by a felon. VCAT, an alliance of local and federal law enforcement entities, has been actively targeting significant and mid-level drug offenders in Ventura County.
A mismatch in the suspect's age was noted in the KTLA report, where several individuals named Juan Lopez were shown in jail records, but none matched the age provided by the Sheriff's Office release. A 44-year-old Juan Lopez is listed with a booking date and charges that correspond to those listed in the VCSO release. This includes an additional gun possession charge not initially mentioned. The bail set for Lopez is $250,000, coinciding with the figure released by the Sheriff's Office, though he is recorded at the Todd Road Jail instead of the Ventura County Main Jail, as stated by officials.
The Ventura County Crime Stoppers have put forth a reward up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and criminal complaint against those responsible for this crime. They assure informants that their calls are not recorded and they can remain anonymous. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477). The 44-year-old Lopez, matched on bail amount and holding location, is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Tuesday.
